The Cruise, Good News, And Why I've Been Gone So Long....

OK....go ahead and beat me up, I know it's been almost a month since I've posted, but I have good reasons for it. After you read this entry you'll truly understand.

Let's start with what happened on the cruise about two weeks ago....

We sailed on the Enchantment of the Seas, which had its good moments and it's not so good moments. Let me start with the good. The ship was very nice in terms of appearance and activities. It doesn't really show any signs of wear, even though it is a slightly older ship. Most of the staff were wonderful and the ports of call (Key West and Cozumel) were cool too - especially Cozumel! Take my advice and if you're ever there, go to 1/2 Senor Frogs at the pier...you WILL be tore up (as Chris and I both were). All in all a good time was had by us. We gambled in the casino (Chris won a little bit as did I but I gambled most of it back), I climbed the rock climbing wall (made it halfway up), and we ate...and drank....and ate some more....and drank a lot more......

Now for the bad. We sailed with a group of 5 women (3 from my church and two of their guests). One of the participants kept up a lot of mess, even going as far as ruining everyone's vacation with their screwed up attitude, speaking down to people and acting as if they knew everything. Nobody wanted to really be around her, even her cabinmate who is a Deacon of the church. We all came very close to putting her in her place on more than one occasion. While we were in Cozumel, Chris and I had pretty much had enough of the female-drama and wanted to stay at 1/2 Senor Frogs. She pretty much dragged everyone into a cab and they all went downtown. From what I'm told she pretty much left everyone down with the "I-been-here-before-and-I-know-where-I'm-going" line. Quiet as it's kept she was the last one back on the ship from our group. To take it a step further, I nearly got put off the ship because she got in my face on the pool deck, cussed me out and called me a fag in front of everybody. It took Chris and another group member to physically restrain me, because I was truly out for blood. Later that evening I was in tears, and it took one of the Deacons that came with us and Chris to pretty much calm me down and put me to bed. But this is the same person that guzzled down the champagne I bought for everyone on Friday night. Interesting. Needless to say, she is on the same usher board as me at the same church that I attend. To prevent an incident, I elected to take a leave of absence from the usher board (initially I resigned, but the president of the board persuaded me to take a leave).

The interesting. Immediately after the incident, I went back to the cabin for a little while with Chris. I then left and went to the cyberlounge to send an e-mail to the usher board president resigning. Then I went to the Latin lounge onboard and had not one...not two...but three long island ice teas. This black guy that was flirting with me since we got on the ship was there....with his boyfriend, or as he put it (in the guy's face), his "friend-with-benefits". (Note...what the hell is a friend with benefits?) He tried every line in the book to pretty much sleep with me, and I wasn't buying it. After I told him that I was engaged, and to whom I was engaged to, he said "what would happen if I tried to screw him?" I told him "I would try to take your head off." His boyfriend, obviously pissed off, told me that it was nice meeting me and to have a good evening. Negro, if you're still with him after that, then you're as dumb as a doornail.

And now for the better. Friday, September 26 all of us were in the nightclub aboard the ship. I pulled Chris and one of my group members out to the aft pool deck. It was approaching midnight, the seas were calm and it was simply a beautiful evening. I took Chris by both hands and told him how much I cared for him and wanted to be with him. Then I got down on one knee and proposed. HE SAID YES!!!!! (That's where the bottle of champagne, mentioned above, came from.)

We pretty much have been making preparations for the ceremony since then. The announcements have been printed, the next two cruises have been booked (one over Valentine's Day weekend, the other over the Thanksgiving holiday), and I'll be going down to DC this weekend to spend time with Chris and to talk some more about the upcoming cruises and our impending ceremony.

More To Come.
End Transmission.
